Summer 2010

The past couple of months have been exciting and emotional at our house. Douglas received his mission call in April to serve in the California Anaheim Mission. We took him to the Bountiful Temple at the end of May. On June 25, 2010 our first granddaughter was born. Her name is Julie Abigail Christopherson. She weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long. She is perfect and wonderful. We're really glad that her Uncle Doug was able to meet her before he left on his mission. We all spoke in church on June 27 and enjoyed an open house that night with lots of Doug's friends and family. Yesterday, on July 7, we dropped him off at the MTC in Provo to begin 2 years of full-time missionary service. Although it was very emotional for all of us, by the time Douglas walked in the building he was smiling and visiting with his host. We are anxiously looking forward to hearing from him!

The Baldwins 2009

Since I didn't get around to sending out Christmas cards or letters, I decided maybe setting up a blog would be the "21st Century" thing to do. I guess we'll see how it goes, but at least I guess I'm saving trees and that should count for something.

Chad and I are still happily living in Casper, Wyoming where he is still editor of the Casper Star-Tribune and I'm still teaching 6th grade English. As far as church goes, he is the High Priest group leader and I was just recently called to teach Relief Society. The big news, that most of you all probably already know is that we are going to become grandparents in June, and we found out this week that the baby is a girl! We are anxious for her to get here and are amazed at the detail visible on the ultrasounds of today.

Katie and Jared are living in Laramie and both going to school. Jared was accepted into dental school for the fall of 2011 at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Although they were kind of wishing they could get in this next fall, we are really glad that they will be in Laramie for one more year with the new baby. Katie will be finished with her degree in elementary education in December 2010 if all goes as planned. They are both looking forward to being parents.

Douglas is also going to the University of Wyoming in Laramie and is actually living with Katie and Jared. We were a little worried about that at first, but it's been nice for all of them to be together. At least most of the time. He had a great senior wrestling season and placed 6th in the state last spring before he graduated. He hasn't missed having to cut weight, but has missed the workouts and action of the wrestling room. Douglas just finished the first step in submitting his papers to serve a mission. We can't actually send them in until April, so it will be a while before we'll know where he will be going.

Kevin is the only one at home now, and he's as busy as ever especially with his music and drama. He was in the DMJH musical last spring, was cast as John Darling in Peter Pan this summer at Casper College (John's the one with the glasses and top hat), and is currently rehearsing for the high school performance of Grease where he plays the part of Doody. He learned to play guitar at school during first semester and continues to love that. He'll be going to the Boy Scout National Jamboree this summer and is planning to make his new niece into a Celtics fan.

2010 is already over a month old--sure wish I could figure out where the time goes.
